Devlog: Chat System and Console Management

by | Devlog, Featured

Hey all!

This week will be a relatively quick update but we wanted to show you the progress on the in game Chat System and how console commands will work for admins. It is still early on but it is coming along nicely and functions well.

State of the Chat System

One of the main priorities was making the user interface as intuitive as possible for both players and admins. We’ve added the familiar feature where players can easily toggle between global chat, team chat, and private messages using simple keyboard shortcuts or mouse clicks. This makes the flow of communication feel seamless, especially in fast-paced multiplayer environments.

State of Console Management

On the admin side, we’ve been refining the console command system. Admins can now execute a wide range of commands directly from the in-game console, like kicking/banning, or anything else they would like to be able to have control over. Take a look at the video for some of the options but know that we plan to add more.

What’s Next?

We will be picking away at functionality and UI elements to make sure everything is as clean as possible and add more command options to give you more examples of how this could be expanded upon in your game. Let us know what you think!

As always, a big thank you to our Patreon supporters—if you want to become one and help fund future updates, visit Patreon!

Next week, we will take a first look at the Advanced PCG Forest!

With kind regards,
