Devlog: Finalizing the Ability System

Hey all,

I’m back after a short break (I was a bit under the weather) but have powered through and have been making amazing progress on many of our upcoming systems. This week, I’m excited to dive into the updates we’ve made to the ability system since last you saw. If you haven’t yet, please check out the first devlog on the ability system. 

Let’s quickly touch on a few of the ability types featured:

  • Custom: We’ve added an ability called Shadow Step. It’s a teleport ability that allows players to define the travel distance in a shroud like state. 
  • Projectiles and Beams: The use of projectile (Arcane Burst) and pulse (Arcane Pulse) and beam (Thunder Beam) based abilities provides an assortment of ranged attacks. We also have incorporated equipment requirements as seen with Precision Shot, which lets you shoot a powerful arrow. 
  • AOE: Meteor Shower has been set up as one of our area of effect (AOE) abilities. AOE buffs such as Battlecry are included in this and will display on the UI, informing the player of the active buff.  
  • Passives: Players can also slot different passive abilities, like health regeneration or providing an increase in damage output for specific weapons.
