Deform

The Deform tools support environment workflows where generated or authored features need to shape, cut into, or visually adapt the terrain. Use them for landscape-integrated features such as ditches, trenches, paths, cave entrances, and other terrain transitions.

Related setup: Complete the landscape setup in Set Up Your Game Environment before relying on deform-style environment tools.

What To Check First

  • The target map has the correct landscape material and layer setup.
  • RVT is configured if the setup depends on RVT-based blending.
  • The generated feature has enough space and does not conflict with important gameplay actors.
  • Collision, navigation, and visuals are tested after generation or deformation changes.

Recommended Workflow

  1. Use the example map or video workflow to understand the expected setup.
  2. Test deform behavior in a small isolated area first.
  3. Adjust generation settings until the terrain transition reads correctly.
  4. Check the result in Play mode, especially player traversal and camera readability.
