Ditch

The Ditch setup is used for generated ditches, trenches, drainage lines, and other terrain-cut environment features. It belongs with the deform, path, spline, and biome tools used to make generated content blend into the landscape instead of sitting on top of it.

Related setup: Start with Set Up Your Game Environment so the landscape and material foundation are already working before adding generated ditch content.

Use It When

  • You need terrain-integrated ditches, drainage lines, trenches, or similar world features.
  • You want generated environment detail that follows a controlled path or area.
  • You are building a world where PCG features should blend with the landscape rather than sit on top of it.

Setup Notes

  • Test ditch generation in a contained area before scaling it across a large world.
  • Check landscape material blending after generation.
  • Review collision and traversal so players, AI, and vehicles do not get blocked unexpectedly.
  • If the ditch intersects roads, paths, water, or biomes, validate the combined result in Play mode.
